Member Garden Visit - Rightsized Garden with Kelly Vandendaele - Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 6:30 p.m.
(limit 40 guests)
Many a gardener has faced the prospect of a garden filled with a lifetime of plant acquisitions and just one more planting area that becomes a bit daunting when you want to spend more time with family and traveling.
Kelly and her husband not only downsized their home to a smaller one down the street but Kelly created a entirely new garden focused on easier maintenance as well as beauty. She was able to move many mature plants to the new garden so that the garden appears to be older than the five years she has been gardening it. She added raised vegetable beds and a new area for sweet corn and watermelon. She has plans to add irrigation this year to allow more time to travel. She has a 40 × 60 wildflower bed, a newly created fairy garden and plans to create a secret garden around a vintage trellised gate.
This garden is located in Kansas City, MO just north of the river, east of I-435 and south of MO-210.
Exact address of the garden will be email to attendees the week before the Member Garden Visit.
You must have a valid Gardeners Connect Membership at the time of the event. Please see your renewal date listed above your name and address on your latest Gardeners Connect newsletter. Member Garden Visits are gardener led tours where you will learn about the the garden, plants and the techniques the gardener uses. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact and ask questions during the visit. Please be prompt and courteous to the gardeners and the garden and most of all enjoy. Limit 2 tickets per member.
